Case 15 of 18 · The Found Odyssey
Episode 5 · THE BLOOD
Can one colour rule tell the story?
Episode 5, THE BLOOD: Book 11, 7:35. The land of the dead in grey; the only colour is the blood and whoever has drunk it.
How it was made
- Grade every plate to grey.
- Draw shades grey, half transparent and smeared until they drink.
- Give a shade its colour and weight back while the blood is in it; drain it as it finishes speaking.
What this case teaches
- A colour rule is a story rule: who has colour is who can speak.
- The rule is strict, so any break in it is visible and has to mean something.
- Gestures carry the line again: a hand stopping short, arms closing through a shade three times.
How it differs. Episode 4 governed framing and sound. Episode 5 governs colour.
