Rain, the Giraffe Walks Past way

Rain from the archive, made the way Giraffe Walks Past was made. SAM 2.1 traced the rain in every frame. The rig is the chosen Quick, Draw! doodle itself (quickdraw:5897326906310656): its own lines, bent at a few joints, so every frame is the same drawing. 6 keys were placed by eye over the silhouettes; in-betweens follow the silhouette frame by frame. Scenery is real Quick, Draw! doodles on depth planes that slide with the measured camera; the silhouette is painted as a cel.

Review

Round 1 · bar_metNamed “rain”; motion jumbled. The dashes are the same short, slightly slanted strokes with occasional bends as in the doodle. The animation uses far more of them, densely packed.
Round 2 · bar_metNamed “rain: many short dark vertical streaks falling over a house, a tree and a zigzag fence”; motion smooth. The streaks match the doodle's short, slightly slanted single strokes, including the occasional kinked stroke, but the animation uses far more of them at more uniform lengths than the doodle.
