Cat, the Giraffe Walks Past way

Cat from the archive, made the way Giraffe Walks Past was made. SAM 2.1 traced the cat in every frame. The rig is the chosen Quick, Draw! doodle itself (quickdraw:5381512507686912): its own lines, bent at a few joints, so every frame is the same drawing. 14 keys were placed by eye over the silhouettes; in-betweens follow the silhouette frame by frame. Scenery is real Quick, Draw! doodles on depth planes that slide with the measured camera; the silhouette is painted as a cel.

Round 1 · bar_metNamed “a cat's head (cat face with pointed ears, two eyes and whiskers)”; motion broken. The head outline, eye shapes, ear construction and whisker strokes match the doodle closely; the drawing is only rotated and moved. In frames 5-6 the ears are cut off at the top edge of the frame, and the head never turns into profile the way the doodle's construction would need to.
Round 2 · bar_metNamed “a cat's face (head with two pointed ears, two eyes and whiskers)”; motion broken. The head outline, ears, top notch and hexagonal eyes match the doodle, but the left whiskers are regrouped into a downward-angled fan instead of the doodle's three roughly horizontal strokes, and the whole head is tilted.
Round 3 · bar_metNamed “a cat's head (face with two pointed ears, two eyes and whiskers)”; motion broken. The head outline, ears, eyes and whisker strokes match the doodle, but the whole drawing is rotated so the left whiskers hang down at an angle instead of running level, and in frames 5-12 the ear tips are cut off by the top edge of the frame.
