Butterfly, the Giraffe Walks Past way

Butterfly from the archive, made the way Giraffe Walks Past was made. SAM 2.1 traced the butterfly in every frame. The rig is the chosen Quick, Draw! doodle itself (quickdraw:5895381575532544): its own lines, bent at a few joints, so every frame is the same drawing. 14 keys were placed by eye over the silhouettes; in-betweens follow the silhouette frame by frame. Scenery is real Quick, Draw! doodles on depth planes that slide with the measured camera; the silhouette is painted as a cel.

Review

Round 1 · bar_metNamed “a butterfly perched with its wings folded upward”; motion broken. The doodle has both wings spread wide on either side of the body, while the animation shows them pressed together into one narrow upright shape. The lobed wing outline, the segmented diagonal body with tick marks, and the looped antennae are kept.
Round 2 · bar_metNamed “a butterfly with two lobed wings, a long segmented body, a round head and antennae”; motion smooth. The animated butterfly keeps the doodle's lobed wing outlines, the ladder-marked body line that extends past the wings, the small circle head and the two antennae, only made smaller and narrower.
