Method, scope and missing examples

The revised eight-type scheme distinguishes autonomous shot, parallel, bracket, descriptive, alternate, scene, episodic and ordinary sequence. This selection has six types. Descriptive and episodic remain unfilled: no extra label is awarded just to fill the grid.

The silent fiction examples are working interpretations of the films, not examples claimed to have been selected by Metz. Duck and Cover is a didactic extension beyond his original fiction corpus. Source files were retrieved in full, frame sequences and cut boundaries inspected, and the Duck and Cover archive transcript consulted. Readings remain contestable.

Displayed signs are editorial proposals with stated reasons. Reordering does not prove a new syntagm. Shuffles preserve blocks, durations and strand inventory; their switch counts test arrangement only, not cinematic meaning.

The movies are short, uncropped access copies of specified Internet Archive editions, with audio retained. A Moving Image Archive title link does not imply timestamp alignment between editions.
