FILM 069 V01 — INDEPENDENT CRITIC A Verdict: INCONCLUSIVE for the intended compelling anticipation-and-reversal. The visible source-separation argument is legible and honestly qualified, but this is not an unqualified visual or audiovisual pass. Current main-file technical acceptance is also pending: independent extraction failed with 'moov atom not found'. The alternate file independently probes as74s and yields frames. No reference comparison was viewed. Method: All five ordered one-second sheets of main and all five of long-interruption alternate were inspected before CAUSAL_TIMELINE.json/SCORE.json. Main-file extraction attempts at39s and58s failed. Actual alternate frames at43s and62s were successfully extracted and inspected full resolution. I additionally inspected original cabinet0–7s at4fps, office-machine0–7.5s at2fps and audience8–14s at4fps. Sheet-based impressions below are provisional for the main until its current MP4 is recovered and sampled. No audio audition or native-speed viewing occurred. The numerical score is a design record, not heard evidence of tension, residual sound or counterpoint. First image-sequence impression, before diagnostics: A hand manipulates a dark mechanism; a colored projector reel turns; a paneled aperture moves; a building and crowded theater appear; the four motifs return in fast succession; an explicit WAIT card intervenes. Longer contextual passages identify the audience, office machine, projector and cabinet, followed by a statement that the link was editorial. I can infer a presentation or mechanism about to begin. I cannot confidently report that this develops into a compelling expectation of a particular arrival from the inspected pictures alone. The office-hand mechanism initially looks sufficiently projector-like that the later mechanical close-up does not independently expose an unmistakably different function. Main timecodes (alternate is identical through24s; everything after its9s rather than5s interruption is shifted+4s): 0–3: separate-recordings/construction framing. This protects documentary distinction, while also making the following exercise a knowingly artificial chain. 3–6: tight office-hand excerpt. It is an adjustment/opening/manipulation; the frames do not securely establish a literal initiating lever pull or a machine-start event. 6–10: colored reel/projector excerpt. Hand-to-reel suggests activation by juxtaposition; it does not observe that activation. 10–14: paneled cabinet gap/door motion. Taken with the next public-space images it can be read as a threshold before an arrival, although it is not a demonstrated shared space. 14–20: source includes a building before theater crowd. The native building-to-audience change should not be described as one continuous shot of waiting people. 20–24: one-second reprises hand, reel, paneled aperture, closer crowd. This concentrates the proposed causal chain, without supplying evidence of its cross-source links. 24–29: main WAIT card, with 'An interruption in the edit.' Alternate holds the same interruption24–33. It is clearly intentional, not a playback-failure image. Static inspection cannot decide which length produces a better interruption. 29–35: crowd/source continuation. The people remain seated with small head/body movements. Source8–14s dense inspection does not establish dispersal. Near output33.5–34 (source~12.5–13), the original transfer changes to a narrow film/optical-strip image. This is a native media transition/artifact, not a crowd departure or an observed aftermath of the earlier door. 35–42.5: original office-machine context. 'BOOKKEEPING AND YOU / an office-machine record' is appropriately broad. The actual mechanism resembles a recording/transport apparatus, but the displayed view alone does not securely establish its precise office function. Do not promote the title into an observed initiating lever, accounting operation or projector-start event. 42.5–52.5: wider colored projector, including a pointing hand and more of its body. It establishes this as a different source apparatus but does not by itself explain the office mechanism's function. 52.5–59.5: cabinet excerpt. Dense native-source frames show the panels move and reveal interior shelves/control-like fittings around source4–6s, corresponding to56.5–58.5. This is the strongest pictorial correction: an anticipated room threshold becomes an enclosed staged cabinet construction. The label 'staged cabinet-door gag' preserves fiction rather than asserting a real public arrival. 59.5–64.5: THE LINK WAS OURS card states that records do not supply the common purpose. 64.5–67.5: labeled editorial hold of office-machine image. It must not be called an observed machine stop or historically arrested action. 67.5–70: source register. Titles help recover differences, but source titles cannot prove unshown functions, dates, places or causality. Largest gap and blocking/optional distinction: The film exposes unsupported linkage more securely than it first induces a specific, consequential expectation. The absence of visible crowd dispersal removes the intended behavioral reversal, leaving the WAIT card and explanation to do much of the work. This blocks an unqualified claim to the full anticipation/reversal hard proof; it does not make the bounded source-separation montage dishonest. The unclear office mechanism's exact function is another limit on how much the wider view can correct. Explicit labels are a strength, but they cannot replace that missing visual discrimination. Observable repair condition: Keep the cabinet reveal and honest cross-source framing. Find an authorized audience continuation with plainly visible departure or another unmistakable action that counters the proposed anticipation; preserve enough context to establish that behavior rather than importing an unrelated reaction. Alternatively change the intended proof explicitly to a demonstration of source-link construction and media interruption, without claiming dispersal. For the office-machine correction, use a wider source view that visibly shows a specific ordinary function, or retain the current broad wording and accept that its function is unresolved visually. Test main and longer-gap cut at normal speed: an unbriefed viewer should name a concrete expected event before the gap, then point to a later picture that changes that expectation without relying solely on THE LINK WAS OURS. Score efficacy requires actual audition. Strengths to protect: explicit separate-recording introduction; careful staged-cabinet labeling; genuinely informative cabinet reveal; no disaster-based climax; no fabricated source sound; final freeze labeled editorial; recoverable apparent-edge and score records. No current-file decode, source provenance record or numerical score should be represented as perceptual acceptance.
