Independent critic B — 067 / WHAT ARRIVES NEXT — V03 Verdict: bounded VISUAL PASS for the precise-description/next-picture construction. The V02 absent-cup failure is cleared by the actual revised picture and static description. No blocking image/text mismatch remains among the inspected principal details. Native-speed memory, felt duration, synthetic-voice intelligibility and full audiovisual acceptance remain INCONCLUSIVE. A visual construction pass is not a measured audience-memory result. Actual inspection and file limit I inspected all six main V03 one-second sheets and all six synchronized-control V03 sheets before reading the current OFFSET_RELATION.json. I then extracted enlarged actual control frames at24,46 and64 seconds, independently extracted the original pottery source at2.3 seconds, and inspected the current descriptions/source association record. My first attempted main-MP4 extraction failed with 'moov atom not found'; I did not accept that file or use sheets as proof that it decoded. After the parent reported a fresh remux and validation, I successfully extracted and inspected actual final main frames at6,24,45 and64 seconds at full960x720 resolution. This report's decisive main-picture findings come from those successful final-file extractions. I have not independently performed a complete2700-frame decode; the parent's technical validation remains separately attributed. The cause of the earlier container failure is not established here. I did not audition sound or view native real-time playback. No builder script or other critic report was read. V02's failure report remains preserved and is not rewritten into an earlier pass. Repair actually observed At6 seconds, the stage copy is accompanied by: 'A white cup stands on a dark wheel. A narrow dark band circles its rim. A hand rests below the wheel.' At24 seconds, the arriving pottery copy visibly contains that white cup on the dark wheel, with a dark band across the rim region and a hand below the wheel. The principal promised objects can now be pointed to. Original source2.3 independently contains the same cup-on-wheel arrangement. This directly clears the prior first-arrival failure; it does not rely on an A→B label in a ledger. The revised synchronized control at24 seconds places that same caption directly beneath the cup picture, making the repaired agreement particularly clear. 'Rests below' is more bounded than claiming the hand supports/steadies a moving cup from this still. The coil description shown over the pottery record now reads: 'A bright ribbon is curled above a dark block. Its loose turns climb diagonally toward the upper edge, where the ribbon is cut off.' The arriving metal copy at44 seconds and enlarged synchronized46-second frame support those spatial details. No precise number of coils or observed motion out of frame is required. At45 seconds the caption predicts 'A small figure is suspended against a pale field. Its knees are folded. A dark platform is cropped at the right edge.' The actual62-second arrival/enlarged64-second picture matches that description: compact bent figure, pale surrounding field and right-side dark platform. It no longer claims visible water. The image's blur makes fine anatomy approximate, but folded legs are a reasonable visible reading rather than an invented location. The synchronized opening describes the stage fabric's two shallow curves, standing figures and fabric extending between them. This is now compatible with a stationary archival frame rather than implying that the copied image visibly records passing figures. Whole sequence and control The actual main retains the same4–22 stage,22–44 pottery,44–62 coil and62–80 diver order. Each caption refers to the next record, rather than the visible one. Captions precede the principal digital covering; their disappearance leaves a real interval in which the next image's details must be retained if the viewer is to recognize them unaided. Covering12–20,30–42,52–60 and70–78 leads into two-second fully concealed periods before each new picture or final work-surface absence. The22–44 pottery chapter is four seconds longer than the others, specifically through the longer covering interval. The synchronized control uses the same enlarged pictures and covering schedule while putting each description with its own visible copy. It makes details immediately available for checking; the main distributes that checking across time while another image is lost. Thus the variants differ in a meaningful temporal relation, not just picture scale or graphic finish. I prefer the main for the intended memory/anticipation construction. I cannot infer an actual measured learning, recall or emotional advantage from these samples. At62–70 the new caption evokes a red paper boat below an empty chair, a wet folded corner, and explicitly says that no picture of it is here. The main then removes the diver, leaves a fully covered field78–80 and an empty digital work surface80–86. No boat image appears in the complete sheets or credits. The boat is identified as newly authored description-only, not missing historical footage. Its explicit no-picture sentence announces the refusal; the ending works as persistence of an imagined image rather than as a wholly unforeseen trick. Largest remaining gap and falsifiable pacing condition The largest unresolved experiential question is the long30–42 covering of the pottery copy. This could make the absent coil more insistently present in memory, or could be perceived as waiting through a repeated dissolve-like treatment. Still review establishes duration and relation but cannot decide that felt difference. The fully empty80–86 ending likewise needs native-speed attention to justify its length beyond completion of the matching rule. A suitable next check uses the actual main with the relation ledger hidden: does a viewer retain a specific coil detail across the longer interval and identify it at44 seconds, and does an imagined boat persist after80 rather than merely signal a missing next card? If the longer cover proves inert, reduce it modestly while preserving a duration longer than the other covers; do not add explanatory reminders that remove the memory interval. That is conditional pacing work, not a remaining factual blocker from the present image inspection. Why this can exceed a puzzle, and what remains bounded The images are no longer interchangeable answers. A cup can be recognized after a stage has been hidden; a spatial coil can be imagined while the cup is disappearing; the last image exists only in language after the visible record is gone. Those are concrete relations between retention, present visibility and expectation. The explicit final absence can let the construction remain unresolved rather than merely tally four correct matches. That possibility is supported by the sequence; its full experienced effect remains untested at native speed. The digital-copy/simulated-sheet labels remain present and readable, and originals are not presented as physically covered or destroyed. This is not filmed tabletop sheet handling or historical testimony. The captions are newly authored descriptions, the voice is stated to be synthesized, and the source pictures are archival extracts. I have checked the displayed text against the pictures, not heard whether the voice exactly matches or fits its intervals. Preserve those representation limits, the enlarged imagery, the successful cup repair, the static phrasing and the specific final withheld image. On that bounded visual scope, V03 passes where V02 failed.
