Warm Dome Mosaics

Ten sample studies for Afterlight · a film concept by Sosuke & Watson

Each study is cut only from samples of one Warm Dome & Golden Record track, never the whole track: loops, one-shots, slowed passages, frozen grains and long dark reverbs, re-sequenced on the track's own tempo. Each has its own picture technique built from archive film. The mix joins them into one set, with the tempo climbing from 83 to 128 bpm.

Sound design, on every study: a needle drop at the start; a reversed reverb that breathes in before each section; a filtered noise riser into each return; a sub tuned to the track's root that drops with every kick; long archive narration pitched down and smeared, only where the music thins out; an eighteen-second dark reverb under everything; and a tape bus with slight wow and the harshest highs rolled off.

Listening room

All ten songs without the picture. Under each spectrum is the map of its samples: one row per layer, each bar one placement. Hover or tap a bar to see which track and timecode it was cut from; tap anywhere on the spectrum to jump there.

Loop lengths were measured from each track's onset pattern, so loops land on the track's own beat; the mixes were checked as spectrograms, not by ear. Footage is from movingimagearchive.com via the CINEOSIS LAB repository. CRASH LAB · PAELEO · CINEOSIS LAB
